Miyawaki Sakura Google+ / Mar 28, 2015, 10:39 pm (JST)

Good evening!

Today I formally submitted my application to participate in the sousenkyo.
Usually I always announce my candidacy on the first day, but with the commotion around the Spring Concert, I didn't this year. I apologize that I caused everyone to worry that I wouldn't participate.

Nevertheless, I never once entertained the idea that I wouldn't participate in the sousenkyo this year.

That's just the extent of how extremely important the sousenkyo is to me. It's because it's a place I can take a long, hard look at myself, a place I can once again acutely feel that fans are holding me up, and a place where I can seize a big chance together with fans.

Thinking back, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the first sousenkyo I participated in in 2012 was when my life changed.
One year hadn't even passed since my debut before I was presented with an impossibly colossal opportunity by everyone.  At the time, I couldn't believe it was my name that had been called, but from the bottom of my heart I was overjoyed.

From that day onward, I had the fortune of getting various jobs and I was even chosen for UZA's senbatsu. However, at that time my skills still weren't up to par so I wasn't chosen for senbatsu anymore, causing you all some unhappy memories.
So, at that time I decided that from here on, rather than subjecting my fans to more disappointing news, I wanted to deliver many more announcements that would cause joy. I thought that would be my way of paying back the fans that had guide me all the way to the sousenkyo stage.

Time passed, and finally last year I was elected as senbatsu, getting 11th place in last year's sousenkyo. I was so exceedingly, excessively euphoric that I didn't even know how to communicate my gratitude, so full of thanks as I was.

I said this during my speech at that time, but everyone is the sun. I'm the moon that shines only because I'm reflecting the sun's rays. Me without everyone isn't me at all. Without everyone, I cannot shine.
You share my grief in the bad times, you're happier than even I am in the good times,  and in the hard times you gently but warmly push me on.

I feel I was able to repay you all only a little bit last year. Because I entered senbatsu in the sousenkyo, I was able to appear on a lot of music programs, I was selected to center Kibouteki Refrain along with Mayu-san, and I was able to star in Majisuka Gakuen alongside Paru-san.
With happy things continuing one after the other, my days had a purpose to them. I know what kickstarted all these chances was everyone was supporting me.

That's why in this year's sousenkyo I want to aim even higher and proceed even further up the stage together with fans.

My goal for this year's sousenkyo is the Kami 7.

People often say that you should make lofty goals, but the wall to the Kami 7 towers above me so much that even just saying the words "Kami 7" fills me with trepidation. But, I want to aim for it. I want to have a year even more deep and fulfilling, rejoicing from the bottom of our hearts together.

I'm always endeavoring to be the member that fans have the most fun cheering for out of all the members in the 48 Group. I really hope I'll be that sort of member one day.

Collectively with everyone, I want to write the history of Miyawaki Sakura with a red pen.
(TL Note: Since Sakura never further explains why a red pen, I asked two people more familiar with Japanese than I am and then paraphrased their interpretations.
@CorinthCat: A red pen is associated with marking mistakes or making suggestions for improvement, which would mean Sakura here is asking her fans to teach and guide her along the way.
@na_fushigiyaro: A red pen can be used to highlight something important or historical, so Sakura is re-emphasizing how important the sousenkyo is to her.)

My life will change

と。
Or I hope so.

There's still a lot of time before the voting period begins, but I'm already feeling that peculiar,  mysterious nervousness.
I pray that in Yahuoku Dome, sakura will fully bloom.

Thank you for reading this long post.

Sakura bloom!
